Common Questions

What's the difference between council and private tickets?

Council tickets (PCNs) are issued under road traffic law and can be enforced through the courts. Private tickets are invoices under contract law - companies must prove you agreed to their terms and that signage was adequate.

How long do I have to appeal?

For council tickets, you typically have 28 days (14 days for the discounted rate). For private tickets, you usually have 28 days but check the notice. Always appeal within the discount period if possible.

Will appealing affect my credit score?

No. Parking tickets cannot directly affect your credit score. However, if a private company obtains a CCJ against you and you don't pay, that could affect your credit file.

Tips for Success

  • Take photos of signage and the parking area
  • Keep your ticket and any receipts
  • Appeal within the discount period
  • Be factual and avoid emotional language
  • Include evidence with your appeal

Appeal Rejected?

If your appeal is rejected, NoReply can help you escalate to POPLA (for private tickets) or the Traffic Penalty Tribunal (for council tickets).
