FixAreas: Tools, Data
The calculator comes first, and the boards only show what is real
Every tool now starts right under its headline, the next-step card waits until you have an answer, and the flight board and energy league table only show figures their sources actually published.
On a phone, most of our tools started more than a screen down the page, under a strip of three claims the headline had already made. Now the tool sits right under the headline and the extra detail comes after it.
A next step that waits for you
The “your next step” card used to appear before you had typed anything, and on a phone it covered the form. It now shows up only after the tool has given you an answer and you have scrolled past it. It is one line, it gets out of the way while you are typing, and it closes with one tap.
Boards that say when they are out of date
The live flight board now tells you when the departure boards were last checked. If we have not managed a check for 12 hours, it says the board is down and points you at the calculator, rather than showing old flights under today’s date. It only lists flights to or from the UK and EU.
The energy supplier league table now shows only the figures Ofgem published, for a quarter that has finished, and compares each supplier with the average of the suppliers on the table. Both tables, fewest complaints and fastest to fix them, are now on the page together.
