Common questions

What counts as a package holiday?

A combination of at least two travel services (flight, accommodation, car hire, etc.) sold together. This includes holiday packages, cruise holidays, and linked travel arrangements.

What can I claim for?

You can claim for the difference between what you paid for and what you received, plus compensation for loss of enjoyment. This could include hotel downgrades, missed excursions, or significant disruption.

How long do I have to claim?

You have 6 years to make a claim in England and Wales (5 years in Scotland). However, it's best to complain as soon as possible while evidence is fresh.

Claiming tips

  • Document everything - photos, receipts, times
  • Report problems to rep/tour operator immediately
  • Keep a diary of issues during your trip
  • Get witness statements if possible
  • Check ATOL certificate for protection details
